LIVE FOREVER!

To celebrate Ray Bradbury’s birthday, I’m posting a fictional short story I wrote about Ray from my collection, Dark Black.
Much of Bradbury’s oeuvre can be looked at through the lens of “autobiographical fantasy.” “The Lake,” “The Crowd,” “The Next in Line,” Something Wicked This Way Comes are just a few examples where he took real life events and extrapolated them into the dark fantastic. I set out to explore this narrative motif in my own story, “Live Forever!,” based on the first time I interviewed Ray Bradbury at his Los Angeles home in 2000. It begins very true to life, but quickly turns strange. . .
I want to thank everyone who joined in on the online celebration of Ray’s birthday across 5 social media platforms! It was an awesome outpouring of love. As a way to give back, I present to you. . .
